چکیده

Fish are ectotherms and this means they highly vulnerable to changes in ambient temperature, particularly during early developmental stages when temperature can induce persistent effects on phenotypic traits. In study, the effect of egg incubation response juvenile European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) food deprivation recovery after refeeding was assessed. Eggs were incubated at 11, 13.5 16 °C until hatching then reared a common 9 months fish deprived for one week. The from evaluated 10 h 2 days post-refeeding. Food eggs highest (16 °C) compared 11 exhibited most morphological metabolic liver foregut. Liver metabolism changed as revealed by significant reduction lipid area increased number hepatocyte nuclei. Foregut atrophy coupled up-regulation transcripts associated with gluconeogenesis (pck1) peptide absorption (pept1). A modified fast-refeed regime significantly decreased levels plasma lactate, which may result thyroid axis, deiodinase (dio2) lower (11 less following regime. did not modify morphology foregut parenchyma recovered sooner thermal other regimes refeeding. latter group had temporary stimulation GH-IGF axis insulin-like growth factor I II (igf-1 igf-2) fasting. (the standard hatchery stage) recover end experiment catalase (cat), encoding an antioxidant enzyme, downregulated regimes. Our results suggest that imprinting stage feeding resumed.

Physiological mechanisms underlying individual variation in tolerance of food deprivation in juvenile European sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax.

Although food deprivation is a major ecological pressure in fishes, there is wide individual variation in tolerance of fasting, whose mechanistic bases are poorly understood. Two thousand individually tagged juvenile European sea bass were submitted to two 'fasting/feeding' cycles each comprising 3 weeks of food deprivation followed by 3 weeks of ad libitum feeding at 25°C. Rates of mass loss d...

Skin mucus proteome map of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax).

Skin mucus is the first barrier of fish defence. Proteins from skin mucus of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were identified by 2DE followed by LC-MS/MS. From all the identified proteins in the proteome map, we focus on the proteins associated with several immune pathways in fish. Furthermore, the real-time PCR transcript levels in skin are shown. Proteins found include apolipoprotein ...

Effects of high food-demand fish removal in groups of juvenile sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax)

In self-feeding conditions, a few individual sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax (L., 1758)) display strong activity in striking the food dispenser, whereas the remaining individuals of the group actuate the feeder weakly or never. Here, we investigated the effects of removal of the individuals showing dominant activity on the social and feeding behaviours in groups of juvenile sea bass. Following r...

Effect of two thermal regimes on the muscle growth dynamics of sea bass larvae, Dicentrarchus labrax L.

Muscle growth was studied in larvae of sea bass, Dicentrarchus labrax L., reared at two temperatures: real ambient temperature ( congruent with 15 degrees C during vitelline phase and increased gradually) and 19 degrees C from fertilization until the end of larval development. Muscle cellularity, body length and body weight were measured. Early temperature influenced larval development and so, ...
